December 2011
GRAND KNIGHT’S MESSAGE
The Council has been busy with many activities in the past few months which included: the Pizza King Parking Lot Fund Raiser, a First Degree put on by Council Members on the District Degree Team, a Council Picnic, work days at Life Choices, Inc., 40 Days for Life March, a Memorial Mass for our deceased Brothers, and a Butt & Rib Cook Fundraiser. Plus the Degree Team snuck in another First Degree towards the end of November with our Council as the Host Council. It took a lot of time and effort from a lot of Brother Knights, and I would like to say thank you to those Brother Knights who made this possible. As December approaches, activities will slow down a bit so we can enjoy the Christmas season. Brother Knight Tom Verkamp is busy finalizing plans for the Council Christmas Party which will be held at Willow Bowling Lanes on December 11, 2011. We will be collecting toys for the children of Gibault at the party. It will be a good opportunity to sit back and enjoy the fellowship with our Brother Knights. See details in this newsletter.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish all my Brother Knights and their families a Merry Christmas as the holy season approaches.
Our next business meeting is on December 5 th at St. Boniface. We will pray the Rosary starting at 6:40 and the meeting will follow.
As always, I thank all the Knights of our Council who donate their time, treasure and talents.
Fraternally,
Kevin Steinkuhl

Can you believe it will soon be 2012? I hope that 2011 was a healthy, prosperous year for you and your family. It’s said that time flies, and the older we get, the more that statement seems true. As we review the past year and prepare to welcome a new one, we wonder where the time goes.If you’re like most people, you’ve made some resolutions for 2012. If I may, I’d like to make two suggestions regarding your resolutions. First, write them down. A resolution is really a goal for the year and, until you commit a goal to writing, it’s nothing more than a wish. Writing a resolution down is the first step towards achieving it. Whether your goal is to lose weight, contribute more time and money to charity, read more or watch less television, you’re more likely to accomplish it if you write it down.
Second, schedule some time to visit with me, your professional Knights of Columbus insurance agent. The “insurance check-up” that I’ll provide (free of charge, by the way!) will quickly identify any gaps in your family’s life insurance program. And you’ll want to fill those gaps now, not later. Because unlike many other products, you need more than money to obtain life insurance. You also need good health, and no one will ring a bell warning you when your health is about to change.
Knights of Columbus life insurance offers something precious few other financial products can – guarantees. As long as you pay your premiums, the policy proceeds will be there for your beneficiaries should something happen to you. We call that peace of mind, and that’s (as they say in the credit card commercials) priceless.
I’m at Toll Free (866) 311-KOFC (5632), locally at 812-589-3470, or Bradley.schaefer@kofc.org. Call me – let’s talk.

The Rosary begins at 6:40 PM and the meeting starts at 7:00 PM. If you have not attended for awhile, come join your Brother Knights for discussion and fellowship, plus some good snacks after the meeting.Lord, May We Be Like The Wise Men
Lord, may we be like the Wise Men who were guided to you by a star. Give us the wisdom to seek you, light to guide us to you, courage to search until we find you, graciousness to worship you and generosity to lay our gifts before you, who are our King and our God forever and ever. Amen.THE GOLD WRAPPING PAPER - An Inspiring Christmas Story
Once upon a time, a man punished his five-year-old daughter for using up the family’s only roll of expensive gold wrapping paper before Christmas. Money was tight, so he became even more upset when on Christmas Eve, he saw that the child had used the expensive gold paper to decorate a large shoebox she had put under the Christmas tree. Nevertheless, the next morning the little girl, filled with excitement, brought the gift box to her father and said, "This is for you, Daddy!" As he opened the box, the father was embarrassed by his earlier overreaction, now regretting how he had punished her. But when he opened the shoebox, he found it was empty and again his anger flared. "Don't you know, young lady,” he said harshly, “when you give someone a present there's supposed to be something inside the package!" The little girl looked up at him with sad tears rolling from her eyes and whispered: "Daddy, it's not empty. I blew kisses into it until it was all full." The father was crushed. He fell on his knees and put his arms around his precious little girl. He begged her to forgive him for his unnecessary anger. An accident took the life of the child only a short time later. It is told that the father kept this little gold box by his bed for all the years of his life. Whenever he was discouraged or faced difficult problems, he would open the box, take out an imaginary kiss, and remember the love of this beautiful child who had put it there. In a very real sense, each of us as human beings have been given an invisible golden box filled with unconditional love and kisses from our children, family, friends and God. There is no more precious possession anyone could hold.Future Events and Activities
